Um aparte... :: Just an aside...

Só para mencionar outro trabalho que também gosto de fazer, mas que confesso nem sempre ter paciência: o ponto-cruz.
Comprei esta toalha com capuz quando estava grávida, comecei a bordá-la mas não consegui terminá-la a tempo.
Os dias foram passando e o meu filhote foi crescendo, ao ponto de já não caber nela...

Com o aproximar do nascimento do bebé de uns amigos, voltei a pegar nela para a acabar definitivamente e oferecê-la como prenda especial, já que, para mim, estas coisas têm outro significado.
Só posso dizer que os papás ficaram muito felizes e sensibilizados com a oferta, já que nunca tinham recebido nada feito à mão. O pequenote, mais tarde dirá se também gostou ou não!

To mention another thing that also like to do, but I confess that don't always have patience for: cross-stitch.
I bought this towel with a hood when I was pregnant, I began to embroide it but could not finish it in time.
The days went by and my son has grown to the point that he no longer fits in it ...

With the approaching birth of the baby of some friends, I decided to finally finish and offer it as a special gift because, for me, these things have different meaning.
I can only say that the parents were very happy and touched by the offer, since they had never received anything handmade. The little boy will tell me later if he liked it also!

As reacções de quem acompanha o desenvolvimento deste meu trabalho e o apoio que tenho sentido, incentivado pela criatividade do João Nascimento (o excelente designer gráfico da família), levou à criação da Thingies.
É do João o mérito da criação do nome e do logótipo. Está lindo e tem tudo a ver com a mensagem que pretendo transmitir: cor e alegria.

The reactions of those who follow the development of my work and supportI 've felt, encouraged by the creativity of João Nascimento (the excellent graphic designer of the family), led to the creation of Thingies.
João has all the merit of creating the name and logo. It's beautiful and has everything to do with the message I intend to convey: color and joy.
Again, I was happy!

I tried my light version (non-edible) and it turned out like this.

Gostei tanto de ter feito a primeira bota e achei tão original, que decidi partir para o segundo projecto do mesmo género, mas desta vez sob a forma de botim.

Fazer a bota deu-me tanto prazer e o resultado final foi tão surpreendente para mim, apesar de saber que se trata de um projecto simples, que rapidamente decidir pôr novamente mãos à obra.
Desta vez, para fazer outro projecto simples... uma maçã.

Depois de publicar a foto do meu trabalho, na minha página do Facebook, o feedback de alguns amigos foi surpreendente tendo, inclusivamente, feito desta simples maçã, a minha primeira encomenda. Obrigada, Beta!

Making the boot gave me such a pleasure and the result was so surprising to me, despite knowing that it is a simple project, that I quickly decided to start on a new project.

Primeira experiência :: First experience

Ao folhear um livro, deparei-me com o molde de uma bota de natal. Não uma bota normal, mais ao estilo de meia de pendurar na lareira, mas uma bota mais a sério, mais chique e meti mãos à obra.
Como não tinha máquina de costura (e ainda não tenho, apesar de já estar encomendada), fiz o molde, apliquei ao tecido, cortei, cosi tudo à mão e o resultado foi este:

Going through a book, I came across the pattern of a boot for Christmas. Not a normal boot, like the ones people hang in the fireplace, but a boot like a real fashion boot, more chic and I started working on that.
As I had no sewing machine (and still don't, despite already ordered one), I made the pattern, applied to fabric, cut, sewed everything by hand and got this:

"Em casa de ferreiro, espeto de pau"... Será?! : : "In a blacksmith's house the skewer is made of wood" ... Is that really?!

De um momento para o outro, surgiu em mim esta necessidade de criar coisas em tecido.
Sempre gostei de trabalhos manuais mas, em relação à costura, sendo a minha mãe costureira profissional, sempre me achei um caso perdido, tal como no ditado "em casa de ferreiro, espeto de pau". Tinha o dom especial de encravar a máquina dois minutos depois de ter começado a fazer qualquer coisa e outro dom para partir agulhas...

Desta vez, decidi experimentar. Comprei uns tecidos que achei bonitos e pus mãos à obra. O resultado? Para mim foi impressionante e o feedback positivo dos amigos ajudou-me a ganhar coragem de encarar esta nova etapa como um desafio. Profissional ou não? O tempo e as vossas reacções o dirão.

This time I decided to try. I bought some beautiful fabric that I found and put myself to work. The result? For me it was impressive and the positive feedback from friends has helped me gain the courage to face this new step as a challenge. Professional or not? The time and your reactions will tell.
